What SLPs and audiologists miss in Oklahoma

Can I practice in Oklahoma on an ASLP Compact privilege?

Oklahoma has enacted the ASLP Compact but is not issuing privileges yet. Until it does, practicing here takes a Oklahoma license, and a Oklahoma license does not yet give you a privilege anywhere else.

  • Enacted, not issuing yet

Can an SLP or audiologist licensed elsewhere get a Oklahoma license by endorsement?

SLPs licensed in another state apply with a license verification, a copy of that state's licensure rules and their license card, or with their ASHA card and an ASHA verification letter. Every applicant needs three reference forms, a citizenship form and a background check.

  • Endorsement route available

Which exams does Oklahoma require for a license?

The board accepts the current ETS Praxis exam in speech-language pathology or audiology, or another national exam it finds equivalent. A clinical fellow must pass within two years of the first clinical fellow license approval, or loses authorization to practice.

  • Praxis exam

Does Oklahoma offer a temporary SLP or audiology license?

Applications go to the monthly board meeting, but once every checklist item is received the board issues a temporary license to SLP, SLPA, clinical fellow and audiologist applicants. Audiology assistant applicants do not get one.

  • Temporary or limited license available

How do clinical fellows get licensed in Oklahoma?

Does Oklahoma license SLP assistants?

  • Speech-language pathology assistant license

How often does a Oklahoma SLP or audiology license renew?

The renewal fee is due by December 31 every year. CE runs on a two-year cycle starting in odd years: 20 hours, including at least 3 in professional ethics.
