What SLPs and audiologists miss in New Hampshire

Can I practice in New Hampshire on an ASLP Compact privilege?

New Hampshire has enacted the ASLP Compact but is not issuing privileges yet. Until it does, practicing here takes a New Hampshire license, and a New Hampshire license does not yet give you a privilege anywhere else.

  • Enacted, not issuing yet

Can an SLP or audiologist licensed elsewhere get a New Hampshire license by endorsement?

A current ASHA CCC alone meets the education, experience and exam requirements for an SLP license. Audiologists licensed in an equal-or-stricter jurisdiction may have requirements waived if they practice in New Hampshire 20 days or less a year.

Which exams does New Hampshire require for a license?

SLP applicants without the CCC must pass an exam approved by the board in its rules, along with a master's, a supervised practicum and a supervised postgraduate experience.

Does New Hampshire offer a temporary SLP or audiology license?

An audiologist moving from a state with equal or stricter requirements who has applied for a New Hampshire license can get a temporary license of up to 120 days.

  • Temporary or limited license available

How do clinical fellows get licensed in New Hampshire?

A provisional license lets you practice under a New Hampshire-licensed SLP while completing the postgraduate experience, which takes 9 months full time. It expires on the date printed on it, and the board can issue conditional provisional licenses under its rules.

  • Provisional license

Does New Hampshire license SLP assistants?

The board lists speech language pathologist assistants among the professions it oversees. Separately, school employees working under the direction of a licensed SLP or a DOE-certified speech language specialist, who do not act independently, are exempt from licensing.

What audiologists need to know in New Hampshire

Anyone in the business of selling or renting hearing aids must hold a current hearing aid dealer registration, renewed every two years by June 30, and both dealers and audiologists must give buyers an itemized receipt.

How often does a New Hampshire SLP or audiology license renew?

SLPs need 30 CE hours per renewal, at least half directly related to speech-language pathology. Audiologists need 20 hours.

  • 30 CE hours per cycle
